Behenyl Alcohol Profile
Behenyl Alcohol is derived from corn and is a vegetable product. It can be used to thicken and stabilize formulations. Behenyl Alcohol can also serve as a co-emulsifier in some formulations. It can be used in water-in-oil emulsions, oil-in-water emulsions, and anhydrous formulations, such as cream, lotion, ointment, body butter and salt
It is also known as Docosanol. Its curative properties are well-known as it is the main ingredient for Abreva, the cold sore remedy.
We use it because it is the mildest form with anti-septic properties to thicken and stabilize our serums and butters.
